“Therapeutic Justice (TJ) is a “lens of care” through which we can examine the extent to which the legal landscape of
substantive rules, laws and legal procedures, as well as the roles and behaviour of the family justice participants, produce helpful or harmful consequences. This could lead to reform of laws and procedures as well as more intentional and
helpful interventions by family practitioners and other professionals in the space. It is hoped that our collective efforts would help to engender a mindset shift in the community. All stakeholders should have the same understanding that
the resolution of family disputes need not be adversarial in nature and should be solutions focused, even when
litigation is required.”
Justice Debbie Ong, Work Plan speech 2020
Former Presiding Judge, Family Justice Courts
Problem
Litigation or court proceedings affecting relationships, especially familial relationships.
Solution
Improve agency in individuals with
psychological interventions and coaching services, using a “lens of care” to help support and heal familial relationships.
At Amicus Curiae, we walk alongside families navigating the complexities of law and life. We are a team of Forensic, Clinical, and Counselling Psychologists, Therapists, Coaches, and allied professionals – dedicated to helping individuals and families find clarity, safety, and restoration even in the midst of litigation.
Our work bridges the legal and psychological worlds.
1. We serve families, lawyers, and courts by assessing and supporting individuals facing divorce, parental alienation, spousal violence, personal protection matters, offending behaviours and trauma. In family litigation, we provide psychological evaluations that inform decisions around parenting, custody, and well-being – always keeping the child’s best interest at the heart of what we do.
2. We collaborate across disciplines – psychologists, counsellors, coaches, and consultants from the legal, medical, financial and even digital fields – to ensure that every client receives informed, ethical, and evidence-based care.
Our Standards
1. We hold ourselves to the highest professional and ethical benchmarks, guided by the Singapore Register of Psychologists, the Singapore Association of Counsellors, the International Coaching Federation, even the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct) Rules 2015 (PCR 2015). Our team engages in ongoing professional development, peer supervision, and reflective practice, ensuring we remain at the forefront of psychological and coaching excellence.
2. We act with honesty, integrity, and fairness – committed to reducing harm, improving lives, and promoting justice with compassion.

Our Model of Care
1. Our approach is simple yet profound: Care first, then change.
2. We prioritise the physical and emotional safety of every client. We believe trust grows from transparency, professionalism, and respect for clear boundaries.
3. Clients are active partners in their care – empowered to make choices, build strengths, and take ownership of their journey. Our goal is to help individuals and families grow in resilience and self-sufficiency, so that healing continues long after our involvement ends.
Our Collaborative Philosophy
1. We work only with partners who share our belief in Collaborative Practice – the idea that families deserve solutions built on cooperation, not conflict.
2. Our coaching approach embraces the whole person, not just the legal issue at hand. Take divorce, for instance: we see it not as an ending, but as a transition – a moment to rebuild identity, purpose, and emotional health. Through reflective coaching and guided growth, our clients learn to turn life’s disruptions into opportunities for renewal.
Our Guiding Principles
Everything we do is anchored in five restorative values:
1. Relationship – Building trust and empathy in every interaction.
2. Respect – Upholding dignity and understanding, even in disagreement.
3. Responsibility – Encouraging accountability and growth.
4. Repair – Addressing harm and restoring balance.
5. Reintegration – Supporting forgiveness, reconciliation, and community healing.
We don’t speak at our clients; we work with them.
Our restorative approach balances high expectations and clear structure (Control) with high support and compassion (Care) – because real change happens when firmness and empathy walk hand in hand.
In essence, Amicus stands for therapeutic justice – a future where conflict leads not just to resolution, but to restoration. Where families come through the legal process not broken but rebuilt.
