About Us

Mission

To empower and support families, children and youths, through the “lens of care”, to still feel dignified and their relationships preserved amidst litigation and or court proceedings.

Vision

We want to see families, couples, adults, children, and youths having meaningful connections with each other, and able to build quality relationships that transcend court proceedings and or outcomes.

Amicus Curiae essentially means “friend of the court” that is not a party to an action, rather one who assist on matters for the court. We are a
trustable, caring and reliable “friend” in good times and bad!

Amicus Curiae, is pronounced as “air·mee·kurs kyu·ree·eh”. In short just “Amicus”.

Who We Are

We are a team of psychologists, counsellors, coaches, and legal trained professionals

What We Do

  • We provide mental health and relationship care, support, and coaching to children, youth, adults, couples, and families preparing for and going through litigation.
  • We support those who have completed their litigation process so that they may further improve their mental health and deepen valuable relationships.
  • We work with partners who understand that the resolution of family disputes and issues need not be adversarial in nature. It can be solutions and relationship focused, even when litigation is required.

Why We Serve

We believe that a family is a “miniature society”. When we support members of the family, they rise above challenges and adversities, the society we all live in together grows.

Motto

Justice is guidance. Relationship is key

Core Values

Integrity. Compassion. Excellence.

Our Company's Pledge

As an Advocate for Collaborative Practices, we pledge:
1. To work in accordance with the justice systems within which the families, youth and children reside

2. To work closely with the relevant professionals helping families, youth and children manage the challenges they face whilst preparing to go or going through Court proceedings; and

3. To always be ready to lead and champion the efforts and work required for the families, youth and children to move forward in their lives and avoid going back to Court.

Collaborative Practices

Your Journey

We are an advocate for Collaborative Practices.

Collaborative practice is the provision of care services that emerge from and rely on the knowledge and skills of two or more care providers.

Within Collaborative Practice Circles, we look for and work with partners who subscribe to Collaborative Practices to support families, couples, adults, children, and youths through litigation and or any court proceedings.

Collaborative Practice is founded on principles such as:

  • Willingness not to litigate in Court
  • Willingness to exchange information in an open, honest and voluntary way

Collaborative Practice may be used to address issues under circumstances such as:

  • Parental Alienation
  • Juvenile delinquency
  • Parenting coordination
  • Beyond parental control
  • Divorce or legal separation
  • Co-parenting arrangements
  • Pre- post-nuptial agreements
  • Child access, custody, care and control
  • Restoring relationships when harm and or crime is done

Empowerment Framework

We believe in resolving conflict by repairing harm done, restoring relationships, and meeting the needs of parties.

This Empowerment Framework we use guide us to achieve that balance between Control and Support for the conflict to be resolved.

We aim to interact WITH clients rather than speaking AT them or acting FOR them.

We proactively look for ways with clients to increase their CONTROL and SUPPORT factors, so that relationships and situations are more restorative.

We adopt the 5R principles to move through the relationship restoration process:

  1. Relationship
  2. Respect
  3. Responsibility
  4. Repair
  5. Reintegration

While all principles are essential, Respect is paramount as it underpins meaningful dialogue, empathy, and cooperation.

Ultimately, success lies in the understanding, growth, and satisfaction post-process, regardless of the specific principles emphasized.

Model Of Care

Our Model of Care is guided by values and principles to enhance relationships beyond legal outcomes.

We prioritize the physical and emotional safety of our clients as the initial step in providing care.

We conduct ourselves professionally so that our clients may trust us due to our reliable care practices and clear communication about expectations and boundaries.

We believe in offering clients choices and control over their care, fostering collaboration with us and our partners for optimal participation and effectiveness.

Our focus is on identifying and building upon clients’ strengths to enhance coping skills and create a resilient foundation for their well-being.

And we empower our clients to develop self-sufficiency and resilience so they can continue thriving even after transitioning from our care services.
